For this hair
style we were looking at hair shape and silhouettes in creating a more slick
styled hair look called the pleat. To create the hair style we started off by
sectioning the hair from the temples back to the
crown, creating a half up half down style leaving the hair at the side of the face down for
later so it can cover the hair that will be crimped for volume. Starting with
the top section of the hair we used crimper's, crimping at the root of the hair
making sure you don’t burn your models head and checking there ok this will add
volume for the style later on. If the model you’re using has hair that has a
curl or kink in the front of it this will need to be straightened out so that
the style can be done perfectly without the hair parting at the front then
backcomb to close the gap the kink or curl would usually leave. After the hair
has been crimped backcomb the back of the piece of hair to the crimp line, the
section then left at the front UN crimped can be smoothed back over the hair
covering the crimped bits using a dressing out comb to come over creating a
quiff like style, After this you want to twist the top section of the hair back
and grip. Moving onto the bottom section of the hair you want to section this
into two parts with one section being slightly bigger than the other, the
bigger section needs to be on the opposite side off the head to which the hair
was twisted around on top to. Pull the bigger section created around the
head and cross grip this into place, then pull the smaller section round to
meet this trying to keep it central and tuck and twist any loose left over hair
as you twist this into place then cross grip this also into place. Once
the pleat is completed spray hairspray onto your hands and finely go over the
hair with your hands sticking and smoothing any stray hairs down.
