Pat McGrath for Dior & Alex Box for Gareth Pugh

I started looking at Pat McGrath and Alex Box, I wanted to look at the make-up for the catwalk shows that they done featuring textures and different materials used on the eyes. I found images from Dior's catwalk show, with the make-up done by Pat McGrath featuring latex used on the eyes with an added colour that looked really beautiful, I also then went on to look at Gareth Pugh's show with the make-up created by Alex Box using latex shapes over the eyelids and also covering the eyebrows creating a sci-fi/futuristic effect that was really individual and visually appealing. I wanted to look at both these look and ideas mostly for my Illamasqua idea and timed assessment as I planned to use a texture of some sort on the eyes also creating a futuristic feel looking to the future of what make-up could become for everyday wear.

There was a simplicity to the cuts and silhouettes which were clean and asymmetrical, and Pugh’s palette of black, white, turquoise and grey gave a modern, sci-fi feel. This was exaggerated further by tonal latex panels that covered models eyebrows, crafted by Alex Box. information sourced from: http://www.hungertv.com/feature/paris-fashion-week-gareth-pugh/

Pat McGrath for Dior
This year Dior doesn't play it safe and wows the crowd with Cerulean Blue and Khaki Green graphic shapes. The graphic eyes —designed by Pat McGrath— were created using theatrical latex paint —a material make-up artists rarely use because it requires impeccable timing to layer products over top.— The graphic shape was sketched on with a pencil, filled in with the latex paint, then a pigment in a similar tone was gently pressed into it. Some coloured mascara that matched the shade applied onto the lids, and a touch of glitter that reflected Greenish-Gold or Blue-Lavender as a finishing touch.
