Textured hair

Creating texture in the hair using a diffuser and other electrical equipment, the idea of this lesson was to use a diffuser on the hair to give the hair a textured effect along with using crimpers to create another texture in the hair to help also give it volume. I started off by sectioning my models hair as she had very thick long hair and then wetting my models hair using a water spray, lightly spraying the ends of the hair so it was damp enough for me to run some mousse threw the hair. Once I had wet the section of hair I applied a small amount of mouse to the hair making sure there was not too much in the hair making it sticky, I then scrunched the hair and dried it of using the diffuser section by section, doing the same thing which ended up with the end result of thick, beach wavy looking hair with a really nice look texture and finish to it. After doing this I crimped the hair in sections just near the root area underneath the top layer of hair as if you would when backcombing as I did not want the crimped pieced of hair to be seen only to be used for volume. Once I had crimped a section I would lightly backcomb this and hair spray it to give it some extra volume I then lightly brushed the hair over the top of this which ended up with me having this natural wave textured hair with a bit of volume and bounce. When creating a look with electrical equipment be careful not to burn your models head and keep checking that your model is comfortable and that the heat is not too hot on any of the electrical equipment. When using water make sure there is always a gown or towel around your model so you don’t ruin or get the clothes wet in any way and that you shield the face so you’re not ruining and make-up.
