Eyebrows and Eyelashes

We started looking at how to create different eyebrow shapes, and also looking at the many different shapes of the eyebrow throughout history. In the 1920's the eyebrows were plucked out and drawn back on and were rounded and thin like a banana arch, throughout the many eras the eyebrows changed increasingly in shape, size and colourings. There are a variety of products and colours used to fill in eyebrows from powders to pencils, mascara wand like fillers to liquid like products. We looked at how to fill in the eyebrows naturally so that they looked naturally defined and shaped, and did not look to heavily filled in. To fill in the eyebrow I started by pencilling underneath the eyebrow from the inner corner to the arch of the eyebrow I then mixed powdered eye shadows together to create a colour suitable for my models hair colour and skin colourings to begin lightly filling in the eyebrows. You don’t want the hairs at the top of the eyebrows to be solid whereas the bottom part of the eyebrow can be more solid. I done a very natural application onto my models eyebrows and then powdered over my application with translucent powder to make them appear natural. I would have liked to have used a different product next time as my model wants thicker eyebrows but has very thin light haired eyebrows. When applying mascara to your models eyelashes you should discuss and decide whether the look needs eyelash curlers used before applying mascara. When applying mascara on your models eyelashes you should start from the outside and comp the mascara wand down on eyelashes then get your model to look straight ahead and lift the eyelid slightly and brush the mascara wand along the eyelashes getting as close to the root as possible. You can apply as many coats of mascara as you want dependent on the look that’s being achieved, when applying 2-3 coats of mascara let the mascara dry in-between applications, if the mascara starts to clog on eyelashes use a small mascara comb to break them up. When applying false eyelashes you should pick a set of eyelashes based on the look you want to achieve, if you are after a natural look you want to use individual eyelashes so that they don’t look as heavy as a set of strip lashes. When applying lashes check the length of them against your models eyes and cut the lashes if needed so they are a suitable length. Apply your eye liner If desired and stick the lashes on top of this as close to the lash line as possible as you don’t want gaps between your natural lashes and your false ones, start by sticking the middle part of the eyelashes first then stick both ends, apply mascara if needed after and another layer of eye liner If needed also.
